car died last night on the highway!!

ok so last night I was heading to my girlfriend's house when I noticed a lot of smoke coming out of my tailpipes (white smoke not blue or black) I thought it was kinda wierd and then I noticed that my pedal was almost to the floor and I was barely doing 60mph!

As I pulled over the car stalled and I haven't been able to get it started again. The battery died shortly after I pulled over from trying to crank it over. I have an idea but I want to hear what you guys think first.

I had it towed to my house last night and I am about to go check it out some more in a few minutes.

thanks for the help in advance

Sounds like a blown head gasket. Pull the plugs and see if they are wet w/ coolant. A compression check will further verify.

If the engine starts just briefly then dies, you might want to look at exhaust restiction as well.

If it doesn't fire at all, do exactly as GM Tech suggests - he's the man.

see thats the thing, I didn't see any fluids underneath the car when i pulled over

really the only thing that I could tell was different was that there was a slight burnt smell when you sit inside of the car.

someone suggested that I check my radiator to see if it was still full (because when the gasket goes it would have pulled about half of the coolant into the oil pan) well the radiator is still all the way filled to the top and its still green (doesn't look like it has mixed with any oil)

what else could this be?
