Car burns oil really bad
I already know that I have burnt valves and rings, so that is probably the cause of my car burning oil... Usually I have to add a quart a week in it, but in the last week I've driven my car twice. Once on Thanksgiving and then again tonight. After leaving the house I looked at the oil pressure and it was around 35-40, then about 30 mins of driving I look down while sitting at a stop light it was sitting at around 10, but it went back up to around 35 when I was driving... So my question is, is it normal for it to be burning oil this bad?? And is there any other kind of oil I can use to help it out some? I'm running 20w50 in it now.
burnt valves would effect preformance not oil consumption, rings on the other hand would. i had a chevy 4x4 truck that i drove 78 miles round trip to work and i put a quart in one day and two the next, then back to one etc. it had a burnt piston causing most of it's problems.

just to clarify, it's NEVER good to be burning oil. sounds like it's time for either: A. a rebuild or B. a v8 swap!

....But I still need a few more hundred bucks before I can start that, so in the mean time this motor has to last.
