2 Quick Cam Installation Q's
I have an '88 w/ roller cam. When I put my new ZZ4 cam in and the plate on the end, there is about 1/8" play forward to back in the cam, is that right?
Secondly, should I install the cam straight up or 4* adv/ret?

I'd say no, that's not right.
Are you using a cam button?
I'd install straight up.

You don't use a cam button with a factory roller.
It sounds alittle much to me, but I couldn't tell you off the top of my head what the spec is. Is this with the timing gear installed? I'm guessing not.
Straight up should be fine. Are you indexing it, or just using a 3-keyway crank gear?

Should be about .008-.012", IIRC. With the timing gear installed, of course.

Okay guys - I found out the problem with the play. I have a bad timing set/wrong one. Ill get the new one soon, should fix it.
So just go straight up? Its a 3 keyway crank sproket design.
