AFR 190 on 305

Does anyone think that these heads would be too unsteetable on my motor with a vortech supercharger?

I found these heads cheap, the one is milled down .012 because of a piston slap. 64cc, I figure it bumps it to about a 9.6 cr. Could I use a larger gasket for the time being to equal them out? Or is that a very bad idea?

valves will be too big for a 305 and smack the deck unless you run a small cam.

I plan on keeping the stock cam. No time to pull the motor.

The stock heads on your 305 were 58cc... so by going to 64cc, you'd be losing compression, not gaining it. 190cc heads are way overkill for a 305, usually overkill for most 350s too, but throw a SC in the mix, and it could work.

I'd agree with Adam on that, kinda seems pointless to run that combo though being that youd have to use a small cam, your running the stock cam(shame shame), and run a low amount of boost to keep the engine from, well you know the story. In my eyes with the price your putting into the s/c and heads you could build an N/A engine that makes the same power and runs on 87oct. instead of the 91 you'll probably want to use to run much boost. Sorry to knock on ya but thats my two cents.

Im going to build a 383 in a year and a half when I return to the states, so Im putting things on this motor that I can later swap over to the new motor. I need more power out of this motor. This motor is a disgrace powerwise, and I need to bring some good american power to the autobahn. Anyway, I dont have the time to pull this motor and swap in a cam, also the cam I plan on using in the 383 wouldnt work well with a 305. I just want to know if these heads would make the 305 unstreetable. Without the sc they probably would be, but the sc will bring back some low end torque. I already have the supercharger. Im not interested in building the 383 now. Id have to get a new rear, upgrade my tranny, and thats just not an option over here, sadly.

If you absolutely have no other options, which i understand you don't have any, i would try the combo and if all else fails you can always put the stock heads back on.

You'd be much better off to find a set of 416, 601, or 081 castings somewhere, clean them up, change the valvesprings, and bolt them on. They will work MUCH better for your 305 than the AFRs will.

Just buy the heads and leave em sit. They will be nice doorstops Those will work well on the 383 if I'm not mistaken?

Well I think im going to get the heads anyway. If I have time to experiment with them, I may put them on. If not I might just do some minor porting of the stock heads. I thought I heard someone say they arent worth a darn though.
