2 bolt/4 bolt "main"? Blocks???

Im wanting to buy a 350 block and build it from scratch, it would be a good learning process since Im a super newbie at this. When I get a block, do I want to get a 2 or 4 bolt main block for my bird? What does this mean?

Depends on what your planning on. 2 Bolt blocks are fine and can be taped for 4 bolt mains or you could get good main caps that will hold up to severe duty. IMO if you have to pay more for a 4 its not worth it but if you can get one for the same price go with the 4.

2 bolt blocks have 2 bolts on all main caps.

4 bolts have 4 bolts on 3 of them.

For the street, 2 bolt is usually just fine...it can handle a good amount of power.....now if you are going to with a nitrous shot....

A good BALANCED 2 bolt can handle 500-600 HP, and 7000 RPM's. Same with a factory forged crank (I was thinking that would be your next question ???)

BuddyLeeX if this is your first keep cheat, don't start making strokers, or droping hard earned money on thousand dollar 4340 cranks.
Let the machine shop do all the hard core block work, and I'm sure they have some 350's laying around. The best place to get a crank is at a crankshaft specialist, they have better tools for that, and believe me they will get your tolerances with in limits, and not sloppy like some machine shops I've seen. PLEASE get your assembly balanced (Crankshaft guy will do that, and they will give you a print out), to many people overlook this insurance.

2bolt or 4 bolt doesn't make much difference for a street engine, I like to use ARP studs in the mains
