Check if your EGR is working properly
I don't know if you have vacuum or digital... It changed to digital EGR in either 90 or 91 i believe.
They are easily identified, check your book.
If you have a vacuum controlled EGR, it will be easy to test and replace. If you have a digital, you'll need a multimeter, some cash (if its bad), and some slight understanding of how to use it.
Check your manual on how to check your EGR, it's pretty straightforward.

If you're referring to an owners manual... Then I'm sorry, it probably won't tell you anything about your EGR system.
You'll need to go buy a Haynes or Chiltons manual for your car. They're only about 15 bucks, and are good investments if you want to save money and maintain your vehicle yourself.
If you ever get more involved, a Helm's shop manual (a little pricey) will do you nicely further down the road.
