yup, pictures looked the same & they both said 900 cfm, which is probably not true being that one is bigger...
a stock 305 uses between 400 - 450 cfm I think, when I was doing my volumetric efficiency research...

Okay, one question how the hell did you link from Summit? Am I the only one that has trouble linking from them?
Also, on a 383 like yours, I would have gone with the bigger 9" one. It can't hurt to have a larger filter right?

I have a filter just like the RE-0870 on my car but with the 3.5" inlet diameter. My engine is a 355. On the dyno the horsepower did not change with the filter removed. So it flows more than enough air for my combination. Rule of thumb is to buy the largest filter that will fit.

lol, nice way to describe it.
i wanted to go with the 9" but im putting it right underneath the pass side battery tray (made a new battery tray and am moving the batt to the back) and there is a brace that runs down there and might have possibly gotten in the way.
i hope if this does cost some HP it wont be much compared to the 9"

nice. thanks, i like that little calculator. i need almost 690cfm at 100% efficiency which i will never reach so i think im good. i just dont know the specifics of what this filter will flow.

i'd bet at least 650
which is all you'll probably ever use with that setup
i wouldn't worry about it
yank it off for a run or two if you ever dyno tune it, then your mind will be at rest
dyno tunes are good for you anyways... gets the most power out of your setup with the best gas mileage (usually)
