86 2.8L died ??

Been reading the posts for alot of good info,

Problem: My 86 bird ( 2.8 FI - Auto) just stopped while turning around in a parking lot. All idiot lights came on but will not hit.

Checked fuses - all ok

Checked for spark - NONE

Check Engine light - bulb burnt or gone since bought used

Going to take dash apart and replace bulb in CE

IF That will give me the codes on what happened in the parking lot?

Any other ideas?

Thanks

My firebird died when I was going down the highway one day. Once I got it off the road, it would crank but not fire.
It turned out the control module in the distributor went out on me. These cost around $30 at a part store (autozone, etc).

I'm not familiar with the 2.8L, but you may wish to check the distributor.

Hope this helps.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the replies. If it is the distributor module then I should get that code from check engine light, right?

It was the distributor module after all. Took it out & had it tested & replaced...It fired right up and is running better than ever. Thanks for the help!
