87 hypertech in a 88

87 hypertech in a 88

i put a hypertech chip for a 87 into an 88 and the canastier makes a whinning noise - why?

when i replace the chip with the stock chip it stops - i never thought there was a difference between 87 & 88 proms

Welcome aboard!

I would ditch the hypertech chip and stick to the stock PROM until you can learn how to burn your own chips. Off the shelf chips are a stab in the dark and add fuel and spark where it is not needed.

i just have a couple of bolt ons and that is the way i would leave it - can you program a chip for me?

Your best bet is to bite the bullit and learn to do it yourself. I am no good to you because I do not have access to your car. The tuner needs to have the car in hand so that they can read live data feed and make changes as needed.

Double check on the DIY PROM board but you can get all the stuff for $200 or so. Prices and equiptment change requesntly as newer stuff comes out. It is pretty damn neat what you can do and how easy it is to learn.
