another oil pressure gauge question.

i just read purg3d's post about mech. oil pressure gauges. i have one on my 85 that is plugged in behind the intake. my 85 doesn't have the computer in it but my 86 does. is there somewhere else i can hook it to? my 86 has something (i assume it is the stock sending unit) attached at that hole. it has 2-3 wires coming out of it. can i do away with that without causing comp. problems?

There is also a fitting in the side of the block just above the oil filter that is also used for oil pressure. It's a much bigger thread, though (1/4" NPT vs. 1/8" NPT up on top, if memory serves). Obviously, it will have a plug in it right now if it's not being used by some other/additional oil pressure sensor.

You could use that if you have the right fittings to adapt to it or you could build yourself a "Y" fitting from parts store pieces up on top of the motor and run both the factory sender and your mechanical gague off the same port.

You may have a sender with a switch in it for your fuel pump relay.
check schematics before you take it out.
