removing pulley removed with pulle removal tool!! HELP
ok i having a problem, i bought a pulley removal tool from summitracing.com and any of you know or have done this please help me or tell me if im doing it wrong.
i put it down the center of the pulley, i put the jaws around and put the ring around the jaws, i held the top, and unloosed the screw inside the jaw, which would tighten and how it is suppose to work, i tighten it but man it is hard, am i doing it right, i had a friend try it, im guessing it is seized on, but am i doing it right?

you don't loosen the screw that you screwed into the pump. you loosen the nut which is on the part screwed on to the bolt while holding the bolt to make sure it doesn't turn.
and yes it will be hard to turn. I just finished doing the exact thing this week, pulled it off monday and pressed it back on this afternoon.

there is nothing that screwed INTO the pump, there was no threads on it, you just shove it into the pump, here is a picture, ill tell you what im doing.
i tighten screw #2 so it goes to the bottom so i can fit the jaws around it, and slide the sleeve over it, then i unloose #2 again just so its not danglining and its nice and tight with the jaws. then i hold #1, and unloosed #2 so it comes up the thread and pulley the pulley with it, is that right?

hold which nut, and when u say tighten, you mean loosen right? like i said it you tighten it it will loosen the jaws and they will fall off, but if i loosen it while the jaws are tight, it moves up the thread and brings the pulley with it, ill try it later, please tell me if this is right.

The way I've always done it is to set it up like you have it, then hold the nut still, and tighten the shaft. I suppose it could also be done by holding the shaft still and loosening the nut.. Make sure to lubricate all contact points.

Sorry, been a while since i did one. Tighten bolt, hold nut. The bolt presses on the end of the shaft & pulls the pulley off.

ok well now i have a new problem, putting the new march pulley on, i was using the tool that came, but the threads have seemed to stripped, it was night and tight, the pulley was going on fine, gotta use a little muscle but i think thats how it should go on so its nice n snug.
but now the middle is stripped, so the tool wont thread into the middle of the shaft, how can this work, is there a different tool and has another way of putting on the pulley
if i put something in between the pulley, can i use a vise?

if you stripped out your tool you can just use a bolt a nut and a washer.. i was doing it that way till my nut locked up on the nut... then i went a rented the tool your using..

i actually stripped the inside of the pump shaft, the tool still has all of its threads and works fine. i try to screw in the tool and it catches then loosens, so im wondering if there is anyother way to do this.
