Scratch that. After running a search I found the answer. My question now is could code 24 and my speedometer not working be related? Also My car is a 85 IROC with TPI. Do I have a dash mounted VSS or tranny mounted VSS or both?

Code 24 IS the VSS which means the speedo isnt working.

Dash VSS

Yes, 24 Vehicle Speed Sensor. Same problem with my car. Got a new VSS sitting on the shelf ready to install. Note, this part goes into the side of the Trans (700R4 in my car).

Which one do I need? The one in the tranny or the dash?

Who knows. The VSS is in the Tranny. The dash has the speedo only. It could be the VSS, Speedo, or the Cable.

Firebirds & 90 and up Camaro have the VSS in the tranny, Camaros 89 and older run the cable and the VSS is in the dash.
