stupid Q's about "rev kits"

I just got a used "rev kit" off E-bay, it looks like it's in good shape, and I plan on installing it once I get my engine re-built...that project should start next week....anyways, there were no instructions wit it, how do the plates mount under the head?, also, the kit is for roller lifters, which I plan on using, (retro fit type) I do have a set of old flat tappets laying around and I tried to but the adapter between the spring and the lifter, and it dosen't fit...it seems the lifter's wall is too thick, the kit is supposted to be for roller lifters, is the I.D of roller lifters bigger (thinner wall) than flat tappet melling ones?? I used a micrometer and mesured the O.D. of both the spacer and the lifter, they are both .842, I gave the micro back to my friend I was borowing it from before I could mesure the inside of both, when I get a chance I'll post the diameter of the step and the ID of both
Thanks in advance
-Mark

The plates just kind of sit there, and are held up by the pressure of the springs. I've drilled them, and drilled & tapped the underside of the heads, to add bolts to hold them still, before; but that's not always possible. It depends on which kit and what heads you have.

Yes usually roller lifters are very thin, almost like sheet metal, around the top; so that place has a larger ID than flat tappets. It'd be a good idea though to make sure that whatever lifters you get, will accomodate the rev kit's bushings; since you now know their OD, that shouldn't be too hard to verify.

thanks...that aliveates one problem....I don't want to drill/top the heads so I think I'm just going to RTV it to the head...do you think that will work?

No.

If it won't stay in place by itslf, RTV won't hold it. So I wouldn't introduce that much oil-pickup-screen-clogging RTV that's destined to get loose into the motor, by doing that.

Check and see if it fits flat and solid up against the bottom of your heads (I don't know offhnad how the TF heads are made in that area...) and if it does, then it will stay put for sure. It can't go very far, no matter what, with 8 push rods going through the middle of it.

OK...no RTV, I guess I'll have to test fit it real quick when I tear down the engine this weekend, in prep for the re-build(if the garage is availble...if not next weekend) thanks for the help
