what are the physical diffrances in noisy and quiet gear drives?

I just got a dual idler gear drive off E-bay, it was somthing the person i bought it from had laying around, he wasen't sure of the brand, but he said it was a quiet unit, is there any way for me to tell who made it and if in fact it is a quiet one?, the number on the box is TG-350, thanks in advance

Noisy gear teeth are cut straight across the gear, quiet are at an angle.

YOu may see some that are quiet that have strait teeth. Lots of these have a composite covering over the teeth of the gears. These are not quiet, they are quieter. Helical (angle) cut gears are the ones that are quiet. With those however, you will have to run some sort of cam button, because they produce end thrust.
