Engine builders-please read
Machine shop just called and I had them check the align bore..well its one-thousands off on the loose/high side. This is for the 12-6 o'clock position...the 3-9 o'clock specs are within tolerance. To make it perfect they indicated that they can align hone it for $155 or I could get by on what I have.
I need some opinions on this as I am on a budget here like everyone else.
What does everyone suggest. Told the shop I would call them back after I thought about it.
This motor is going to be a daily driver and I need it to last a couple of years.
Thanks for any help!
Mike

.001" is kind of alot of egg. Considering that you want the clearance to be around .0015 - .0020". I'd get it done if it was mine.
$155 is also kind of alot. If they're doing a bunch of other work at the same time, cylinder boring and whatever for example, it should be less.... $75-100 is more typical.
