601 Heads
How do I recognize a set of 601 heads? What vehicles did they come on? Anything besides Camaro/Firebirds with 305's, such as Monte Carlos etc... Are they sold aftermarket besides at a yard? If I found a pair, are there specific modifications that are recommended? Is there a better set of aftermarket heads for the 305 that won't drain the wallet?
why you wanna buy a set? i have a set lying around they will ned full machine work, surface/guides/seats, but otherwise, i bought them used rebuilt and they sat for a year.

Thanks for the pix, I actually saw that on another post, but how would I recognize them attached to the car. Is there a casting number or something to look for?

You can find them on 4bbl versions of truck engines. I see alot of trucks with 416s on them down here though. Your best bet is looking on Vans from about 1982-1986. Chances are they will still be mounted on the van as well.

mine were off a 85 monte carlo, check them as well!
i'll sell you mine for really cheap, lots cheaper then a junkyard. They'll all need work done anyways.
How about $50 plus shipping i'm sure they can be shipped for less then $50. A junkyard will want more then that.
MAchine work here for all thats needs to be done to then was only $300, guides, studs(doubt they need to be done), seats, surface.

Vans and trucks your best bet. I needed a set for a circle track motor for a customer and found them in an '83 4bbl van.
