should i put bigger valves in my vortec heads

i have a lot of port work done already and i was wondering if you guys recommend taking out the 1.94s and 1.5s and stepping them up to 2.02s and 1.6s?? think it'll add any power?

Depends on which set of valves, if you do them dont get steel ones, theres no better way to go then stainless steel. I have a friend with elgin valves in his, they cost $66 plus shipping on ebay all day long.

engnbldr is a good guy on ebay, he owns a machine shop in oregon, where i used to live. Great guy.

Had to edit, he's in oregon, no cali, thats what being a military brat gives you, you move like crazy and remember where stuff happened.

Stock vortecs without any porting will not see a gain going to larger 2.02" valves. Once the head is fully ported than you'll see a gain. The combustion chamber needs a little deshrouding to get the effect. The 1.6" valve always gives a gain. But more so with porting.
If you've only done basic "pocket porting" the larger intake valve will not help. Needs full on porting.

porting

oh they're already fully ported that's why i was thinking about it i had them fully race ported and the air gap manifold is fully matched. what would be the specs on hte valves that i would need stock length? what else?

Have you had the heads flow tested since the port job?
Any work on the combustion chamber?
how much power are you after? What cam" etc etc.
As to what valves to get. One piece stainless, minimum.
Stock length good for stock or near stock spring installed height. ( 1.26" to 1.44" dia ... springs +.100" length =good for higher installed heights 1.88"-1.90" (1.5" springs) typical of roller cam valve springs. decide what cam type and lift and select the valve stem length accordingly to match the required springs and retainers.

.100 is also used to keep valvetrain geometry correct. Some go with longer push rods, its all about geometry. buddy of mine needed longer stems for him shaft rocker system...
