A/C delete Q's
okay im wanting to pull out my a/c it doesnt work and i never use it and trying to lose some weight, but ive done some searches on here and the threads that did come up werent real clear on the subject, kinda a newbie so anyone that could explain this for me i would greatly appreciate it, i saw some that were talking about a pulley and some talking about putting the blower back into the delete box so the heat would work?? heck i dont even know where to get the delete box and what all ill need if anything else besides the box, can someone please help with my confusion.

I did this last year to my camaro. I bought the A/C delete pulley and the A/C delete fan box on ebay.

The AC box on the firewall is big enough for all that AC crap AND the actuall blower which blows either the hot or cold air into the passenger compartment. If you remove the AC box you'll have nowhere to mount the blower. This is a big deal in the winter if you need HEAT!!!! The AC delete box is MUCH smaller than the AC box, yet it allows you to retain the blower itself.
Best bet to find a delete box is on the classifieds here on TGO or on Ebay.
Here's my AC delete box with blower. The AC blower has a different actual fan than the "non" AC blower (typical GM crap) so you'll need to trim the fan or it will hit the firewall. OR you can use some washers and set the blower off the box a little to give it some room by the firewall. Did that make sense?

Most of the weight savings is in removing the AC condensor.....or is it the compressor??? Hmmmm, either way it's the BIG pulley that sits up top on the passenger side. Most people that remove the AC replace it with the AC delete pulley so they can continue to run the same belt routing. It's also known as the 1LE pulley since the "1LE" cars came from GM without AC.
This link is for a thread I made a few years back. It has ALL the info you'll ever need for the AC delete pulley.

What engine are you using? If it's a carbed 82 engine, and you run V belts then the delet pulley stuff is pointless.
Personally I have a dislike for that setup anyway. I ditched my serp belt set up for V belts. less clutter, cheaper water pump. I never liked the idea of the whole passenger side being set up just to run two pulleys that do nothing more than route the belt.

just remove the belts. No point in removing the ac, and putting something in it's place to keep the belt spinning, just take off the belt.

Sorry, didn't realize you weren't running the serp. set-up.
The compressor has a pulley on it. On the serp. set-up, removing that compressor obviously removes the pulley as well. Since all the pulleys run off 1 belt, you need the delete pulley to keep the belt routing the same. If the V-belt has just ONE belt going between AC compressor and the crank, then there's no need for the belt at all once the compressor is gone.
...and that compressor probably weighs about 20 lbs. Plus you have all that condenser crap and hardware on the firewall, but of course that's not belt/pulley related.
