distributor gear wear attributed to? HELP HELP HELP
I have a gm goodwrench crate 350 of which I swapped in a speed pro cam before the install(224ish duration@.050 .470ish lft hydraulic flat tappet). The damned distributor gear has worn out in three different distributors now. The wear pattern seems normal just accelerated. The distributor goes in without any binding or forcing. Would you guess that it is cam walk or not enough oil which is associated to high volume oil pumps? It has a standard volume oil pump I assume as it is just the 4 bolt standard replacement long block. I will try filing a groove in the housing which is recommended for high volume oil pumps before pulling the cam. Is it common for a flat tappet cam to walk if it did not break in correctly? Any help would be great.

I don't think flat tappet cams walk, due to the way they work (the surface on the lifters cause the cam to stay in position...)
strange... perhaps an oil passage to the dist gear is semi-plugged?

is this actually happening, or is this another test? don't want to do that again, if you want any helpful responses...
