how about a mechanical pump?
I am having trouble with my fuel pump - my relay won't click and the pump doesn't come on. As much trouble as people have with these, has anyone installed a mechanical pump on a TBI engine? It seems like it would theoretically be possible.

Theroretically , yes practically, no. It would be more work and cost more to convert to a mech pump than it would be to replace the elec pump. If the relay is not "clicking" then its probabily not the pump. Check the relay for power in and out using a volt meter. if no power coming to the switch side or power side check the fuel pump fuse. if power is there the relay likely is bad. Not that hard to replace.

I've already replace the relay, and it's gettin power to the switch, but I'm not sure if i'm testing it correctly. I have a light tester, and I stuck it in the varios receptores in the plug. One of them seemed to have constant power, but the others had nothing, even with the key on, so I'm still hunting for info. Thanks for your reply.

I did consider using a race mech pump that provides 14 psi. That would have worked better and wouldn't need the PROM modified. Just that I had the electric and cheapness reigns.
