Stumbles Regularly

I have a problem here. When I am crusing at normal speeds and depress the gas pedal, the car will stumble before it takes off. I kinda acts like it has a carburetor, but its TPI. If I floor the car, the downshifts and I don't have the stumble problem but if I just depress it a little it will do it. I have also noticed that it goes it at a stop when taking off. What could be my cause for that and what are my solutions to fixing it? Car still runs ok, its just very annoying ya know! Thanks in advance for the insite!!

You've got to go into better detail. What do you mean by "acts like it has a carb"? Have you done a tune-up recently? I.E.: plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter?

Check your E.G.R. valve and clean it.

No, I haven't done a tune-up lately & most of the EGR system has been removed some time ago. What I meant by it's acting like it has a carb, is that I had a carb on my '82 camaro and it stumbled and acted the same way until I rebuilt the carb and then it performed normal again. Can the fuel filter affect the vehicle while its driving or is it usually just noticed at start up? Maybe I need to change it.

Yes, your fuel pump could definatley cause that problem. It will only cost you a few bucks. I'd try that first. Also check for vaccum leaks, and pull a spark plug to see how it looks. Just run through the basics man. See if that helps.

I changed the fuel filter and now it runs a lot better. No more stumble and it starts good everytime. I pulled the fuel pump fuse and tried to bleed the fuel out of the lines and relieve the pressure before I began changing the filter, but it still leaks out of the feed line and never stopped. I lost almost a half gallon of fuel, but it's done. The only thing I am concerned about now is the fact that when it's started the car will idle at about 1500 or so for about 10 seconds before it will idle back down to normal and I don't know how to correct this. I cleaned my throttle body with some cleaner and I noticed after it was cleaned it wanted to idle higher as well, like at stop lights or when in park, (aside from the high idle at start up). I turned the idle screw down a little and now its all the way down and the screw isn't even touching the throttle lever on the intake anymore. I can see a gap between the lever and the screw. I can't get it to idle lower than 800 RPM's either. Drop a line if anyone has some ideas! THANKS
