VIN Number locations
Trying to validate the authenticity of a Formula I recently bought. I would like to know all the locations I would find VIN numers on a 88-89 Firebird. Anywhere other than the quarter panels and inner fenders I would find a VIN sticker? So far those are all I've located. Anywhere else on the body?
How about the drivetrain? Engine, Trans or Rearend?
Thanks in advance...-Vinnie

the VIN # should be located in the driver's side lower corner of the winshield, through a small little clear arear, in an '89 if I remember corectly should have "flower" style rivits holding it on(you might want to double check that, I'm not quite sure what year they went form reg. rivits to the "flower" style ones, but I believe it was eariler than '89), they were only used from the factory and were almost inpossable to fake...if it has those style rivits on it you can be 99.9% sure it's origanal, also the RPO codes should be on the underside of the center council glove box, and can help ID what the car came with

Naturally I do know about the windshield VIN#. I have looked at both it and the rivets, the rivets are the correct star type. But there are a few minor scratches around one of the rivet holes, not saying it definitely been tampered with, but it is a possibility.
Basically, I'm trying to locate the hidden VIN #'s that normally people arent aware of.

There's vin numbers all over the car but they're behind the panels.
On the underside of the deck lid
Inside the doors
Inside the rear fenders
These are all decals which are difficult to alter.
If someone has gone through all the trouble to change the doors, fenders, VIN plate and engine to make it a specific car, there's probably something wrong with it. Run the VIN through Carfax to see if it's been written off.
