Need engine bolt kit, right?
Hey, I am in need of an engine bolt kit, because I want to make it look pretty, and most of the bolts are messed up now.
I am trying to buy one right now from either ebay, or summit, but I don't think they are right for me.
I have a carbed 350, v-belts, drivers a/c, passenger alternator, electric fans, water, p/s, and crank. I have the short water pump.
Okay. All I see from arp or the other brands have drivers alternator. I really want one that includes new bolts for the a/c also, but if that is not possible, then I just want to know what kit would be best for me to get.
Stainless steel, steel, or chromoly?
Zinc, polished, raw, black oxide? (personal prefrence, or functionality?)
12point, 6 point hex, allen head?
There are a lot of choices, and I know that some are prefrence, but there has to be one that works better than the others. I don't really care how much the kit is, the most expensive kit is $80 or so, with the cheapest being around $30.
Is an engine kit the way to go, or should I just go and buy the bolts my self (with a little help from you guys telling me what to get). Engine bolt kits are the way to go, right?
Thanks...

stainless is nice since it'll never rust. it's weaker though usually. Chromoly is stronger. Some bolts don't need a lot of strength, ie, oil pan. Where others do, ie head bolts. I'm not sure what that kit includes, but if it's just cosmetic parts, polished is nice as it looks nicer, but i'd go with stainless for most. Allen head for strength or hard to get to areas. I bought most of my bolts with the parts that needed the bolts, rather then buying a kit.
ps allen head bolts for headers is nice. Also for the intake manifold. Other then that I like a 6pt bolt and a 6pt socket.

I can't use header bolts though, at least where the a/c hooks up to the exhaust bolts. Is there a solution to this?
The kits have bolts for the following:
Intake Manifold Fasteners Included: Yes
Valve Cover Fasteners Included: Yes
Timing Cover Fasteners Included: Yes
Oil Pan Fasteners Included: Yes
Header Fasteners Included: Yes
Water Pump Fasteners Included: Yes
Fuel Pump Fasteners Included: Yes
Water Neck Fasteners Included: Yes
Distributor Clamp Fastener Included: Yes
and alternator (driverside)
What I really need is one that has:
P/S
Water pump
A/C (driverside)
Alternator (passenger side)
Crank pulley
I just can't find one with those other accessories.
What shall I do?
Let me know. If you guys have the measurements of the bolts, that would help out too, that way I can just put a kit together at autozone. I guess I can just take my engine apart and get all the bolts I need, but if anyone has the specs for the bolts, that would help me.
Thanks
Jay

I've never seen a kit that includes bolts for the accessories. If you're rebuilding the motor (the reason you'll have to replace all the other fasteners) then you may as well measure your old bolts, and just buy new ones to match.

Well, I just ordered a serpentine system from kevosiroc. That should help solve the problem. This will also allow me to use a strut tower bar with my carb setup.
I can also get underdrive pulleys, too.

Kits don't always include accessory bolts, since there were considerable variations in accessory mounting over the years on various applications. You can get accessory kits separately though.
