reddish hue engine oil

Hey All,
I changed my oil the other day and it seemed to be a little on the bubblier side than usual. The oil also seemed to have a reddish color to it, not like the normal dark black, and had lots of little bubbles all over the top in the drain pan. Is it possible for the transmission fluid to leak into the engine? I didnt think the 2 were connected at all. What else could it be?

Upon further inspection I am also leaking coolant on the passenger side. Seems to be dripping out of the frame rail and some was on my transmission line. My passenger side carpet is dry. The inlet/outlet for the heater core are dry. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

If you have orange antifreeze, I'd say you've got a head gasket problem.

You're not going to get transmission fluid in the oil unless someone put it in there. From time to time I run a quart of ATF in my oil for about 15 min. before an oil change to flush the system. ATF is a very cleansing fluid, so it serves that purpose well. Could this have been done to your engine recently and perhaps you are noticing the residue? Otherwise unless the oil was a vibrant red or something I would ignore it, it may just be the oil itself. I have seen several colors of old oil come out of engines, red wouldn't be new.

Start with a pressure test.
