starter
ok i got a starter from a 74 corvette to use with my 168 tooth flexplate. and hooked it up but the motor wont turn it just clicks like it gets stuck. one of the bolts isnt a starter bolt could that be the problem i also tryed shimming to one shim is to much and 2 is not enough. also i can turn the motor by hand so its not locked up. thanks

Starter bolts (with the knurled lower portion) will make a difference for alignment. You'll need them eventually, so you might as well try that first.

make sure your battery is fully charged or the starter will just click
