running really rough, what next ????

I just recently got an 83 Trans Am Daytona Pace car. the car is all stock from what I can tell. the car had been sitting for 11 years before I got it 1 week ago. I put some new parts in it, 6 gallons of 89 octane (the fuel tank was on empty), spark plugs, plug wires, dist cap, rotor, oil, oil filter, fuel filter. I have to really work to keep the car running.it can rev up a little but if I try to hold it at any RPM it will evetually go down and die unless I feather the gas pedal. the air cleaner lid was off so the filters being to dirty can't be the problem. any sugestions on what to do next ?????????????

Check your timing and make sure it isnt too advanced. My car did that when I first got it, and when I advanced it a tad too far at the track. The stock ignition timing should be written on the underside of the hood, my 1990 Iroc is 6* stock. Get it back to the base stock timing and see if it runs a bit better. While you are at it, get some lucas-oil fuel treatment, or some seafoam...or both actually and put a little of each in the tank and that should clean out everything really nice...probably wont solve your problem but it certainly will not hurt.
