did you try a longer belt and spacing the alternator away a little?
no way to move to alternator.with the serp set up its mounted in 2 fixed holes so adjustability gone.i cant space the bracket towards the front either because that would throw the alt pulley out of line with the rest of the pullys.im really leaning towards new valve covers but would hate to have to replace them,i really like them.and i dont know if new ones will fix problem.i think the fact that they are "tall"covers might be screwing it up but i cant beleive im the only one who has tall valve covers on a early sbc with an early serp set up..please anyone help

dent the front of the valve cover then. the serp. setup i took off our 91 surburban allowed the alternator to be adjusted up or down probably 1/2" in height. otherwise you'll need to dent them up.

well if the brackets aren't adjustable like you stated, then there is really only one choice. ditch the serp. setup or ditch the valve covers or dent one or the other.

... the stator ring is the band between the front half of the alternator and the back half. It must rotate with the back half.
