Change the relief spring in the pump if you don't like the pressure that high.

I doubt its actually bad for the motor, but I doubt your getting any extra benefit from it being that high.

alright, i justed wanted to know if it was normal for a high volume pump to be pushing that much, i only figured it would go up to 70 psi and give me better protection in the higher rpms

if by "better" you mean robbing you of 10-15hp then sure. you don't need that much oil pressure ever though.

It will be hard to prove that a High Volume pump will rob 10-15 HP, considering at full speed, full output it probably takes less than 2 HP to turn!!!!! My 1/2 HP drill will spin the pump fast enough to make 70 psi on a test stand.

The high volume pumps are really setup for trucks. They get very heavy loading at lower rpms and often get very heat soaked. The HV pump gives more output at lower engine speeds where trucks benifit from it. I feel for a F-body the high volume pump is almost a waste. In a truck, it is a great upgrade.

there are setups for the rotary that are designed to give up to around 80 psi for racing conditions. though stock is about the same at 60psi by 2000rpms
