Need Help! 87GTA Will Not Start.
I have had this car for approx. two years and have driven it a total of three days. It just so happens it was the first three days I had it. I parked it on the third day and it hasn't ran since. At first it wouldn't turn over at all. I needed to replace the steering column for inspection purposes and in doing so found a large yellow wire that had come disconected from a splice due to me raising the tilt wheel all the way up. Now the car will turn over until the battery dies but will not start. This car needs a lot of work and has been butchered electronically. The clutch switch has been bypassed as well as some type of alarm consisting of only a numeric keypad inside the car with GM Security Systems on it. I am pretty sure it's getting gas, and spark. Is there any way I could have reactivated this alarm system? Or is there something else i'm missing? I am at a loss and could really use some pointers or some sort of direction to get this beauty revived and roaring again.

I would check to make sure you have fuel at the fuel rails or throttle body depending on tpi or tbi and spark at the plugs.

I bought an 86 Z-28 that someone had converted over to carb and intake. The computer was bypassed and they had installed a push button to start it. I had to repalce the steering column because the turn signal arm was broken and when I did I found the factory alarm system under the dash. I removed the alarm system, spliced the two yellow? or orange wires together and then I could start the car with a key. Could be you have a wire that you disturbed and the engine isn't getting spark. Can you hear the electric fuel pump run?
