This should help you. This is the sequence for most sbc with 305/350 heads. Good luck. Torque them down to 68 lb. ft.

You will want to do this is 3 separate steps.
step 1 torque to 22 ft. lbs
step 2 torque to 45 ft. lbs
step 3 torque to 68 ft. lbs

tightening in stages is definitely a good idea, should at least do it in two stages, after first tightening a little with 3/8" drive
after years of doing head jobs ive got it down to where i just start in the middle of the head and go around and around in a bigger and bigger circle with the bolts until im at the ends of the head
in which is really the whole point of the sequence
ive never had any problem ever with any head job ive ever done
also i always use plumbers pipe thread dope in a can on a brush for the bolt threads, after i chase the deck head bolt holes with a thread chaser and wash and dry the bolts
the pipe thread dope is good to 500 degrees and also lubes them and doesnt dry
so its perfect stuff for this i use it on intake bolts too, it keeps the oil from traveling up the bolts
in which is a very common occurance on chevy engines especially

Be careful with putting anything on the threads of head bolts unless it is called for. The teflon paste will change the friction of the bolts going into the head and will let the bolt thread in more before your torque wrench clicks, changing the final torque.
