cam installation
I want to install a cam, but have a few questions first.
1)If the initial compression on my engine is bad, then is a cam a waste of money? (Haven't checked compression yet)
2)Can it be installed with the engine in?
3)Should I upgrade the rollers, springs and lifters while I'm at it?
4)What's a good cam for making a daily driver quicker out of the hole.
5) -Off topic- Can I replace the main bearings while engine is still in car?

1)Yes
2)I've never done it,but I'm confident that it could be.
3)by rollers,I assume you mean either that it has a factory roller,in which case if they are in good shape,I'd reuse them.Or your referring to roller rockers, which are a good investment, but not a necessity in a mild performance engine. As far as springs go,I would reccomend a new set, properly matched to the cam.At the very least, pull the old ones off and check them out.
4)IMO,one of the small Comp. Xtreme Energy cams. You'll get a lot of different opinions on this one.
5)I suppose it might be possible, but I sure would hate to be the one to do it.
