86 Trans AM Won't Start

Recently, I tried to start my 86 Trans Am, and as I turned the key, something popped and smoke came from the vents and under the dash. Now, when I turn the key, nothing happens. The guage cluster nor anything responds at all.

I tested the fusible links in the system and both are in working order. I then replaced the ignition switch and still, no luck. With the switch in the 'start' position, I tested the power wires leading to the starter and the alternator and both are receiving power.

The wiring diagram that I have is very simplistic. Does anyone know of relays that I should check and where they are located? Or, has anyone had a similar problem that can shed light on my situation? Thanks

Well first off i would have the dash ripped apart fixing all the burnt wires/components...

Now if you are getting power to the starter solenoid on the small wire (red/brn/blk cant remember but its the only small one on the solenoid) you have a starter issue.
