HELP Car wont charge Batt.

I know what your thinking, check the ALT. i had it tested its fine, i can start the car but everything feeds off the Batt nothing is feeding off the alternator anymore help me. I have One Red Going to the bottom of the ALternator, I have one Red, one Brown, one White and Brw, There is nothing coming from the WHT&BRW wire, i tested it and there is no Voltage. it is currently cut and not attached to anything.
This for all purposes is a 305 tbi i have changed it over to a 350 Carb but the wire harness stayed the same. I just removed the computer and cut all the wires from it, while removing them (myself) from the engine bay i cut something i wasnt suppose to
Question? 1 do i need to fine where the white and brown went.

2 is there another way to wire up the harness that im not seeing

You need to find out where the other wires Red, one Brown, one White and Brw go. I cant remeber what they do but if there not conected it wont charge. I mistakenly left mine disconected and no charge. That was on my 89 and my 92

well i connected all three tan/white wires, now the volt meters stays at 10-12 at idle and then RPm raise goes to 13 but when i turn the Head Lights on its drops to past zero, my turn signals make it bounch up and down and the tach drops when the volt meter drops any ideas

I know that the red wire gets hooked up to the Battery(12V source), althought I'm not postive on the Brns. One I'm guessing would be a ground and the other could be the exciter?

This link may help you out some.

Well the RED runs to the starter, the BROWN i cant track it enters the wires and goes behind the engine, the TAN/White i figure runs to the fan relay, though im not sure how im going to go poke again, i think maybe the tan/white is the exciter, not sure. btu i dont have any power coming from either of the other two wires
Red = 12.6 V
Brown = 0V
White/Tan = 0V
Now i know that one is suppose to be less than Batt. Voltage to make is charge.

Actually.., now that I think about it....

Try hooking the red wire from the connector on the alternator(Read:Connector red!) to the heavier duty bolted red wire on the back of alternator. Just loosen it enough to get it under it and tighten back up. Then, connect the Brown wire from the alt. connector to the brown from the car. Let us know what happens.

Easy Fix

I fixed the problem, i know it took me some time to get back to you guys but heres the fix....

Took the red wire from the plug in and ran it to the red wire on the back of the ALT. Its running about 13.5V now, with the fan on and fuel pump running.

cant believe it was that easy thanks everyone for your help
