l98 heads on the older engines?
yall have said in posts way back when thats the L98 heads (the ones from the FI engines after 86 i think) are better than the ones I have now. will those heads fit on the older 350 engines? what makes them so much better/different?

yea
yur prolly right. I was just wondering, trying to get my facts right. when i fall into some money, if ever, which aftermarket heads should i get, judging on my set-up in my sig. are ther any other relatively cheap upgrades i can do? should i get a fuel pump to meet the heightened fuel demands of a 350 over the 305?

Heads differ in their combustion chamber sizes, their port dimensions and consequently their flow potential, the thickness of the castings in various places, and many other details.
The 083 heads are among the better stock ones out there. As to how much "better" than whatever you have now, I guess that would mostly depend on exactly what you have now. If you have 70s smogger crap like 882 or 624 castings, then yes, they are SIGNIFICANTLY better than those. If you have double-humps, then they're roughly similar. "Stock" covers ALOT of ground, when it comes to 350 heads.
The stock fuel pump for a 305 will move at least 400 HP of fuel. I doubt you'll gain anything by changing it.

Under the valve covers, between a couple of the rockers.
Get the number and look it up here, or post it. About 95% of all SBC heads you're likely to have will be one out of a very few numbers (maybe 10 to 12), that are all VERY familiar to those among us who deal with heads alot.
