gas leak around filler cap
when i fill the tank on my 89 RS 305 i get gas leaking around the filler neck right at the very end where the cap threads on. i did have a vaccum hose disconnected. under the hood behind the throttle body there is a vaccum connecter that has a "splitter" that splits vaccum from 1 line into 2 lines. i just replaced this item the other day. could this be caused by a lack of vaccum to the fuel tank and as a result built up pressure in the tank? car is a southern vechile so it is very much rust free and tank is like "brand new". does anybody have any idea why this was happining? it was a substainal amount of fuel. i dont want gas leaking all over my rear quater panel screwing my paint up and i cant afford to dump $3/gal "down the drain". any thoughts? is it safe to fill my tank again and not have to worry about any fuel spoilage? any suggestions would be great.
