my engine is as 350 with a so so carb. Recently ive put a new trans with a full manual shift kit, stall 2200-2500rpm, z-pack clutch kit, biger valves, super servo....Trans shift realy good but tonigh I had a drag event. First race was a total destruction of the other car....second race, first gear was good shift at 5500 , second gear am at about 4500-5000 the engine fall on its face at 3000 with still WOT....so i shift in third and can go past 3000.... .
the car was starting to get realy so I park it......later thrid race, first gear was good, second good, third fall on its face at 3000.....so on my way back i stop and lock under the car and my cat is glowing red....and my car smell gaz like never before.

do a cat can cause this......and on my way back i had no problem

i was waiting 30 min between run on idle in the waiting line

Why did you leave it idling in the staging lane? You probably had vapor lock. How is the fuel being delivered to the carb?

 

cause its hard to start when hot realy slow cranking.

for the fuel its 92 oct with mec fuel pump(geting old)

If your cat is glowing red, it's probably plugged. Are you having problems starting it? Does the idle really suck? If so, you might want to punch a hole in the cat until you can get it replaced.
