305 backfiring through intake?!?!?!?
Hello i have a 1992 L03 305 Tbi RS. When i try to start it i have to floor it to get her started, and hold down the throttle to keep it started. Now heres the interesting part sometimes when i try to start it or it shuts off it sprays either exhaust or un burned fuel mist cloud thing though the intake. And when its urned off and i open the throttle i can visually see the misty smoke stuff inside the intake. Maybe the cat is clogged idk im gonna cut it off tomorrow anyway
.Any suggestions??
New parts
ECM, Coolant Temp sensor, 02 sensor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, both fuel injectors and others i cant remember off he top of my head

right now its a 4* BTDC timed it with the computer controlled advance disconnected. i think the stock seting is supposed to be 0 but 4 should be OK because if i understand the advance/retard hat the computer does it will compensate for a little change on my part.

Timing
You should pull your number one spark plug off and check for TDC, one you've established that, take off your distributor cap off and make sure it's pointing to number to number one cylinder. If it backfires through your intake it's probably your timing or your TIMING CHAIN, if it backfires through your exhaust it's a bent valve.
Just try to advance your timing about 4* and your car should idle without having to hold on to the gas.
Eric..
