Heads and comp question.
Heads and comp question.
I got a pair of good new alu heads ( canfield) but with the "wrong" chamber size
( long story ).
With those heads (72cc) my comp would be around 8.9:1. With the 64c heads it would be around 9.7:1, and that is what I whant. How much power/throttle responce will I loose if I use those 72cc heads?
Is it worth to mill the heads to reach the desierd comp ratio?
Car is
canfield heads
hotcam
355 all forge
headers
Lt1 intake.
Thanks

with a cam like that, it'll feel pretty sluggish at the low end. Good news is, you can use cheaper gas
Flat milling it should work, but that's a fair bit to mill off, may need to check intake manifold fitment then, and that gets painful. Call up your machinist and see how much it'd cost to mill them down to that.

ouch!
Thats going to cost a pretty penny to get them milled that much and have the intake milled to match. Then you will also have fitment issues later on down the road if you want to keep the intake and swap heads or swap intakes and keep the heads.
It would probably be cheaper to throw in some domed pistons...
