increase in engine size

I have a 1984 Berlinetta with a 2.8 L V6. I want to increase it to a 5.0 like was also in the Camaros that year. I don't want to buy a new motor, so I'd like to increase the one I have. I heard you can get a 2.8 L to 5.0 L conversion kit for the S-10. Will this kit also work on the Camaro?

A conversion kit is an engine swap. There's no way you can increase the displacement of a 2.8L V6 to a 5L V8. You could yank out the 2.8 V6 and install a 4.3 V6 as a simple swap.

You can't even increase a 5L V8 engine to a 5.7L V8 without changing the block.

How simple would it be? I was told I couldn't put in a bigger motor without getting a different transmission.

given the age of these cars, unless you have a certain love for that car, or it's in amazing shape, a v8 car can be found for nearly nothing. I just scored a all original 100k 88 TA for 2k.

You were told right, different tranny, different motor mounts, different wiring, different everything.

And this guy is correct, I purchased my car for $850 but I had to fly 2000 miles to get her and drive her home. There are cheap V-8 third gen's all over the place.
