couple of questions....

I have tried the search function on here and it has helped answer alot of my questions. But, I have a few more Im hoping someone out there can help me with.

The engine runs rough on start up. It doesnt want to idle up and has a tendency to idle down, stall and die out.

Ive replaced the plugs, wires, o2 sensor, ait filter and will be replacing the fuel filter shortly.

While look the engine over to make sure all hoses where connected I noticed a metal pipe was was not connected. At first I thought it was the air cond. But, now Im think its maybe the AIR pump connector?

With this not being connected would it cause my idling problem??

I do have a SES code of 15 and will be replacing the CTS shortly.

Ive posted a few pics of what I found and what it connected to.

thanks

Your AIR pump is missing. That probably wont cause rough idle on startup. Maybe after the engine heats up and enters closed loop it could have an affect.

By the way, the CTS code could be caused by either a bad CTS or bad wiring. Check the wiring first.

Part of the idle parameters rely on the coolent temperature. I'd replace that and see if your problem goes away.

Thanks for the quick replies.

what the best way to check the wiring?

I pulled the CTS out to look it over and its corroded pretty bad on the threads. The thing is actually a greenish color all over.

I had a manifold temp sensor wire that was sitting on a head and it melted through shorting the connection. Look for stuff like that (melted, corroded, etc wires). You could probably also check the resitance from the ground wire to a chassis ground.

As for the CTS if you have a good book you can check the resistance of it at the current temp vs what the book says. All this requires a multimeter though. Might be cheaper just to replace it if you don't have one already.
