One Plug (#7) black, all others just fine!?!?
I rechecked the plugs tonight after another start and found that they all look clean but #7. Its black and I don't have a clue why. Car doesn't feel to run on 7 cylinders but its new so I wouldn't know for sure.
Heres a pic...car is a 383 with the Stealthram, trickflow heads and a 230/236 .544/.555 comp cam and 30# injectors.

I don't think so. The original owner/builder of the shortblock got all the machine work done and it all looked good and professional.
Who knows though.

Just thought of something, try putting your timing light hookup wire on your #7 plug wire, that'll tell you if it's firing.

Also, going with what I said in the previous thread, try activating the pump, then as the pressure is dropping with the pump off, pinch off the return line to the tank... The dropoff should stop if its a bad regulator, pump checkball, etc.. If it continues, maybe leaky injector..
Verifying spark on that cylinder would be a good step 1.

I don't remember what post I said it in but I tried to pinch off the lines and can't because they are braided steel lines. I have an inline spark tester I will mess with when i fire it up again after I set the timing a little better.
heres a closer pic of the plug

yep, black as tar alright...I was just curious if you could see if it was fuel or oil.... Does it smell gassy or oily? (probably both I'd guess...)

Lots of blowby due to poor ring seal. Ring could have been installed "wrong" somehow, leading to blowby, and wearing excessively, showing much metal shavings in oil. That's a total WAG, but who knows...
