I really do not know a whole lot about VATS and all that jazz... disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and hook it up again.... then try to start. Should clear any gremlins

possibly have a broken wire in the column up my the ignition cylinder, 2 wires run from the base of the column up to the ignition cylinder for the vats. Tey are usually wrapped in a orange sleeve and there should be 2 white wires inside, easy way to tell is check for resistance across the connector at the base of the column, or remove the steering wheel/turn sig switch and look for the broken wires right near the cylinder itself.

Lock the door, and then open the door with the KEY (not the remote opener) and put your key in the ignition and try to start it.

VATS tweaks out on 94s at times, my old 94 T/A did the same thing and that's what fixed it when it tweaked.

If that don't work try disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes and trying again.

even my boss's brand new minivan will do the same thing. door has to be opened by key or else it has to be both opened and started by remote. weird...

The security feature on most vehicles is equipped to one key a lot of times if you use a different key the car will not start even if you disconnect the battery, lock and unlock the doors and anything else that makes you feel like it helped out, I'm not very familiar with a 94 camaros security feature but this might be the problem. If you have another key try it out, maybe it will work out for you. A lot of people make this mistake and do not even realize it. If you have a chip in your key this is most likely to be your problem, broken wires, bad pcm's and a few other things tend to happen but most times this is the problem.
