I just got an 86 z28 305 TPI when i got it all it need was a battery cable and paint well now i have changed the pos battery cable and the altenator which seemed like it was fixed then i drove it to work and on the way home it started to die and i shut off the headlight and it quit dying the battery is now dead and i have no clue what could be wrong any more help please

 

I had the same problem when I got my '86, turns out they put in a shoddy alarm system that kept draining the battery. Check under the dash for anything that looks like an alarm. Otherwise, just tear through it and look for something that could be draining the battery (i.e. an overhead console that is turned on but has a bad bulb).
