Oil Pan question

Well I ordered my stock replacement pan, and everyone from the searches that I did is telling me that because I have a five speed in my car, I cannot get the pan out and change it while the motor and trans are in the car. Is this really the case or what?

I replaced the oil pump in mine back in '01 and IIRC it was a bitch but I got the pan off by lifting the engine after removing 1 or both the engine mounting bolts. T5 by the way.
