hard start(detail inside)
91 RS v6. 3.1L auto
I put the key in ignition,
and crank the engine,
problem no.1:
it clicks and doesnt crank.
after couple try it cranks,
problem no.2:
it cranks for very long time,
here's some detail,
the oil pressure goes up first, to about 40,
then the voltage goes up to 13 before it starts up.
I have brand new battery, plug wires, cap&rotors, distributor, spark plug
and fuel pump and all new injectors, and new IAC valve.
I have a tiny exhaust leak on my right bank between the head and the ex-manifold, o2 sensor is old too. could these cause the hard start?
also my EGR looks old.
any thought is appreciated before i spend some money! thankyou

here's some detail,
Problem One...either bad connection at battery or starter..One thing I did to my ride was ditch the side post connections.Went to a top post set up..for the simple fact that my positive cable was a mile long, and the top post provides better clamping connection..and got the biggest CCA battery that will fit.Its also possible your starter solenoid is taken a crap..
Problem two...You either got a fuel/air/spark issue..Fuel pump relay sticking..air restriction...weak coil...hard to tell.Have to narrow it down.

thanks for reply.
im guessing its the starter too, yes.
anyways PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER PROBLEM...
my alternator died on me today.
i bought the car last year and never changed it, so
i donno how old it was, but the car would run with jumpstart.
but i park the car, maybe after 10min i get no voltage at all,
so this should be dead alternator draining battery right?
i was wondering, that would weak alternator possibly draing battery only little to a point where it cause the problem no.1 i stated above?(like it clicks, but no crank)
just wondering, thanks for any help in advance!

If your car ran with a jump start then the alternator would be okay,if you jumpstarted and after taking off the cables and it died after a minute or so then yeah..a alternator would be a problem. After 10 minutes??..sounds more like a bad connection somewhere.I know that the charging circuit is tied to the starter so maybe both your problems are starter related?..do one thing at a time. When you do the starter check the fuseable links down there as well.if you do the top post cross-over and really want to go all out replace both the positive/negative cables with 0 or 1 gauge wire (heavy duty stuff )especially if you relocate battery to trunk..good luck.
