oil leak
Fresh motor build, 1000 miles on it maybe.
I'm leaving little exxon-valdez's whenever I park the car. It drips off the oil filter type area. I don't think the oil filter itself is leaking, since there is oil higher up. The front of the oil pan is clean, so I don't think it's there. The rear few pan bolts have oil on the heads. I'm thinking maybe the oil pan gasket?
Rear main seal?
The distributor o-ring paper gasket is wet, but the area behind it doesn't seem to be, so I don't think that's it.
That leaves me with my final, and most likely candidate, the oil pressure sender. I've got a 90* bend attachment on it, and that puts the bulbous sender in a rather awkward place, it can only tighen so much, before it'll interfere with the throttle cable bracket. Right now, it's somewhat loose, I can easily loosen it by hand. I have teflon tape on the threads.
How tight should this be? Is there a spec? Is there an easy way to make this fit better? Grind the bracket? Get a 45* bend attachment?
Side note, my oil is BLACK, and it's not very old yet. I have a PCV setup. What could cause this?
Thanks

once oil used to leak out of my pressure sending unit,
good thing it was just that..
it only drips a few only when u rev up too,
so it was hard to tell as in idle it didnt leak.
hopefully its not the mail seal..

Im going to try and find another fitting to make this fit better.. Anybody know the thread size on this? 1/8" NPT or something?
