Alright every friday night i go to the drags and Bracket Race.. My best time Ever is 9.54 (1/8 mile) I had 1/4 tank of mid grade fuel... Last night i had 1/2 tank of the cheapo stuff, and the first run i had a 9.67, and after that i was running 9.8's and a 9.992... I made it to the third round and brokeout by .01 seconds, man I was Ripped!, But It wasnt anything to get too angry about..

Heres my question, in high RPM the engine had some wicked pinging, and at idle the engine would be smooth for and would make a misfire like sound and the rpms would drop to about 400rpm and rev back to 700rpm and stay for a few seconds and drop back to 400rpm, when the rpms dropped the engine would wobble quite a bit until it reved back to 700rpm.. All plug wires and plugs are in good condtion, 8mm wires.. new dist cap and rotor.. I can rev the motor and it revs fine, but under load it pings.... Whats going on?

 

low octain will cause pinging under load ...not a good thing ...the pinging is the engine self destructing ... tao
