After a long discussion a work, some guys had said acetone is an octane booster...
is this true?
what can/could i expect?
I have a tpi fuel system up to where the hard lines end, i have a carb... Can this damage them?

Yes, it really works. A slight bit. Certainly not going to turn watered down cat pee from the pump into 110 octane Sunoco race fuel, though.
No, it does not "save money" by increasing gas mileage. And even if it did, the net cost would still be higher.
Cheapest way to get it is to buy lacquer thinner at the hardware store. That is a mixture of mostly toluene and various ketones, usually acetone but maybe some methyl ethyl ketone and/or other ones.
It will strip your paint, sometimes damage rubber or plastic parts in the fuel system, and otherwise cause trouble, if used over the long term. It will also do an amazing job of cleaning the varnish out of your carb, if the concentration is high enough.

if your using pure acetone i suggest pre mixing it with some gas before pouring it in.... because the acetone could eat through your filler neck to your tank if its plastic!
