new car, new problem!!!pls help!!
Hi All,
Just bought my first camaro, a 83 5.0 v8 with a carb. Any way i drove it home last night and it was fine until it sat in traffic. The temp went up to 210 and it seemed to be misfiring at 3500 up wards. Then today it seems to be just missing abit through out the rev range.
i'm going to check the plugs but could any one tell me the right ones and the gaping please?
thanks
joe
oh yeah what is the safe limits on temp!!!!!!

first off cangrats on the new car! and i believe the plug gap should be around .035 thats what i run mine at inspect the plug wires also. and take off the cap and see if theres any corrosion on cap or rotor. and 210 is about normal

Yeah I agree with the temps said above. However give it a complete tune up and let us know how it works.
Spark Plugs
Wires
PVC valve
Air Filter
Fuel filter
Cap, Rotor and maybe your coil

hi all thanks for the responses!!!
It was blowing off the manifolds, so i've done that, and it seems loads better!
im having the valves checked, oil change, new plugs, and an oil change on monday. I have since found that it's running a webber carb!! and the jets are worn!
So do i go for a holley? if so which one! its got a elderbock cam and i want to change the heads ( any surgestions/????) wouldn't mind a small shot of GAS as well !!!!!!!!!

210 is within aceptable range. I run an electric fan constantly to keep it down to about 180.
