Strange problem on startup

I havent tried to diagnose this problem yet, havent had the time yet so I wanted to see if anyone here might have an idea as to where I should start. This is on a 91 RS with a 305 TBI, 105k miles, plugs and wires are about 30k miles old for what its worth. Heres whats going on:
I start the car up, whether it be a cold start or a hot start, and the engine stumbles and misfires and I have black smoke pouring out the tailpipes, leading me to believe that for some reason extra fuel is getting added into one or some of the cylinders when the motor is off. On a cold start the engine will almost get to its 2000rpm just after ignition but then it will drop to less than 1000 and run on what sounds like 5 or 6 cylinders. If I give it gas to try and get the idle up it will do nothing, the motor just drops right back down to under 1000rpm and sputters and pops. The problem is worse on cold starts, but even if I drive around and get it to operating temp and shut it off for 30 seconds it will do pretty much the same thing once I start it back up, only it will be very brief stumbling and then I will hear a random misfire every few seconds. But once I start driving the problem seems to just go away, and if I come to a stop the idle is typically smooth and problem free. The car drives fine, throttle response is unchanged, theres no black smoke except for after start up, it runs smooth as it ever has, and my mileage doesnt seem to have been affected since it started, which I believe was this past Monday.
At first I was thinking a fouled plug or two, but I would think a fouled plug would make it run rough during any period of idling, not just immediately after start up. So as of right now I'm without a clue. Only thing I can think of is maybe one or both of the injectors are sticking open for some reason just after I shut the car off letting extra fuel pour into the motor. Other than that though, I just dont get it. Im hoping I can look at the plugs Sunday to see what they look like.
Anyone have any idea whats going on?

What's the state of tune? Have you checked the injectors yet? Any codes? Oh and try and break up long posts like that, they are a bit hard to read.

Umm state of tune is good I guess, what exactly do you mean? Theres nothing crazy done to the car, stock tune with nothing touched as far as the ECM is concerned. Could probably use a fuel filter but thats about it.
No I havent checked the injectors yet. How should I go about doing that on this car? Im assuming just run an ohmmeter across them, but what should I be looking for when I do that, and whats the process to do that (meter settings, which wires to test)?
And theres no codes at all, which is what kinda confuses me because I would think something would show up seeing as how it runs so bad when started. Maybe these cars arent as finicky as the OBD2 systems Im used to though as far as trouble codes and flashing the SES whenever the tiniest problem pops up.
I'd like to look at it today but I have a wedding to go to, so hopefully tomorrow I'll get a chance to get under the hood and scope things out.
